Our story began with heartbreak in 1923…
Morris Spielman and his wife Josie opened ‘Spielman’s Delicatessen’ together in New York City.
Morris tragically died that same year. Josie worried she had no business running a deli and considered closing it.
She dreamed of creating a space for others to find the fairytale-type-of-love she once had. She opened up a secret speakeasy hidden within the deli and called it Lox Club. As the password to get in, members would place an order for “pickles.”
For the next 3 decades, Lox Club became a gathering place for the elite: celebrities, politicians, businessmen, mobsters, etc. Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe were frequent guests.
In 1953, Lox Club was mysteriously shut down, never to be seen again…until now.
