Why Online Dating is Dead

Picture this: it’s 2016. Game of Thrones is still good. The only thing the country was fighting about was whether some dress was blue or gold. And dating apps like Tinder and Hinge were still fun, new ways to meet people. Life was good.

Then the pandemic hit. Dating apps were already starting to go downhill, but they became a necessary evil while we were all stuck inside. That was partly how Lox Club was born - Austin saw a spot in the market for a dating app that didn’t take itself so seriously, and emphasized face-to-face connection and fun experiences over superficial swiping.

Now in 2024 we are really starting to see dating app fatigue. People feel overwhelmed with too many options, or depressed that they don’t have enough. One survey found 79% of college students no longer use dating apps regularly. Ok Gen-Z! We’re all burned out and sick of swiping.

So WTF should you do about it?

I’m glad you asked. We’ve spent the past year designing a better approach to online dating. One that removes the paradox of choice and emphasizes quality over quantity. One that takes you back to that feeling you had in 2016, when anything was possible and life was an exciting adventure.

Lox Matchmaking is a bespoke, hands-on service that eliminates swiping fatigue because we do all the swiping for you. By combining traditional Jewish matchmaking with modern technology, we’re building the next generation of dating apps by focusing on deep, meaningful connections and curated matches tailored specifically to you.

Maybe 2024 isn’t so bad after all.
